My Fantastic Groupon Purchase of the Day!
Do you Groupon? If you don't, you probably should! {Click here to sign up for Groupon in your area}.
Groupon is a website that offers daily deals by region. Companies use Groupon to offer outrageous bargains on their products {everything from restaurant certificates to athletic wear to recreational activities to salon services, and more!} to people of a particular area ~ I subscribe to the Boston-area Groupon. The idea behind it is consumers will benefit by getting fantastic deals on products {sometimes things they would have been buying anyway, and sometimes on things/places they didn't even know existed}, and the companies will benefit by selling a large amount of inventory in one fell swoop. The company determines the minimum amount of deals that must be purchased before the "deal is on" ~ so if the company requires 100 people to buy the deal in order to honor it, and only 99 clicked "buy", the deal is off and no one gets charged. But as long as the minimum amount is met, everyone wins! You only bid on products that you want to, and there is no fee to be a Groupon member. Deals are sent to your email daily, and you can also sign in to the website and check out the deals there.
Okay, now that we're all on the same page about what Groupon is, I wanted to share with you the great Groupon deal I just purchased. A few minutes ago, a "Groupon Goods" email arrived in my inbox ~ an email full of online-based deals, instead of deals specifically in the Boston area. One of the deals in this email was for personalized holiday photo cards from a company called MixBook -- $19 for heavyweight, silk-finished cards with envelopes; $29 for 75; or $39 for 120...up to a 79% savings off the regular price! {View this Groupon deal here}. I bought the $39 deal ~ my Christmas card list is usually over 75 recipients, and I'll probably have some extra cards to scrapbook.
I have bought a number of deals through Groupon and similar sites over the past year ~ salon services, restaurant certificate, museum admissions, yoga classes, etc. I have always been satisfied, and excited to have scored such a great bargain! Always make sure to read the fine print ~ sometimes deals are available to first-time customers only, or are limited to one per person, and they almost always have an expiration date. But especially with the holidays around the corner, sites like Groupon can be a great money-saving tool to help you get products you were going to buy anyway!
Enjoy your bargain-hunting!
xoxo
